BFC Union were the only team in action this weekend, in the second round of Russian Youth League
matches. Union welcomed debutant Rutz into the squad, and had a full team against two of the
stronger opposition teams in the league. In the first match against CSKA-2, Union started confidently
with Dlamini putting in an assured performance in the Union defence. Dlamini twice intercepted
through passes from the opposition and burst forward to grab the opening two goals of the match.
Further goals came, as slick BFC passing repeatedly cut open their opponents’ defence. Grachev,
Filip Kolodziejski, Daniil Metelskiy and Leandre Rutz all got their names on the scoresheet as a superb
team display saw BFC Union run away with an 8-2 victory.
Into the second match against a strong andexperienced Bыбор side. It was a back-and- forth match, with both teams creating and squandering chances to score. BFC Union’s defence was repeatedly tested but they held firm. At the other end, the pace of Kolodziejski and Grachev produced some exciting counter attacks that saw Union
come close to the opening goal. The score was 0-0 at half time. In the second half, Выбор found their shooting range, and scored two quick goals that left Union with their backs against the wall. The boys continued to create opportunities, with Vinet working hard in the Union midfield, but unfortunately it was not to be their day. The final score was a 0-3 loss, but an overall good day of football from BFC Union, and a great effort from everybody!
